A tiny contest!

July 20, 2008 at 6:36 pm | Posted in knitting | 4 Comments

I’ve been just itching to include some knitting content in a post but my summer knitting has been pretty lackluster so far. Honestly, the biggest culprit keeping me from knitting has been my classwork, but there’s a little bit o’lazy in there too. So, since I can’t post pictures of knitting content, I thought I would offer some knitting content up. I happen to have a brand new, paperback copy of

and I’d love to send it to a fellow knitter/crafter/blog reader. All you have to do is leave me a comment and on Thursday evening, July 24th, I’ll pick a random number. I’ll get in touch with the winner by email and sent it out to you on Saturday the 26th.

I’m sew crafty!

Another month has gone by and now I’m really feeling like summer is in full swing. My knitting has been tinkering along with a few more WIPs added to the list but no real progress on much of anything. I did mail off the last Baby Surprise Jacket and the mom-to-be seemed really happy with it. I’ve just started Helena, from the most recent Knitty but am really only a couple of rows into it so far. I’ll post pictures as soon as I have some real progress to show.

Knitting aside, I do have some FO’s of the sewing variety. Chris and I made another pilgrimage to my cousin Karen’s house over 4th of July weekend and as always, while the boys went fishing, we got crafting.

We started out the day by making these nifty little pyramid bags..perfect for a small knitting project don’t ya think?

…and a side view….

The Pyramid bag pattern was super easy and took only a few minutes to complete. The toughest part for me was figuring out how to take the zipper apart to sew it on the bag, but once that was over it was a piece of cake.
Once the little bags were finished, I made another lunchbag.

I am happier with this bag than the last one because I did a much better job measuring and trying to be more accurate with my cutting and sewing. I also made a much longer strap this time which has come in handy. One of my co-workers even asked me to make her one but that will have to wait until I actually have my own sewing machine. I definitely haven’t given up knitting, but boy am I enjoying the sewing. I even have this earmarked for my next project.

Once the sewing was done and the sun was setting, we headed out to the river to watch some fireworks from the boat. We arrived early and then had a few hours to relax in the breeze until it was dark enough for the show.

Since my last post Chris and I also celebrated our second anniversary. I can’t believe we’ve been married for two years already. I definitely still feel like a honeymooner.

I’ll work on posting some pictures of actual knitting soon.
